PALI Town is known as PALI MARWAR located in North West Part of Rajasthan, near old Jain & Hindu Temples and was a religious center of Hindus & Jain Sects. since tenth century. The town is situated on Right bank of Bandi River at a distance of 75 Km from Jodhpur and 300 Km from Jaipur. Old city developed near Temples in Narrow streets. Before merger in Rajasthan, it was an important trade centre ,It is a District Head quarter.
In early days city developed in the North of Bandi River & North west of Old city. After is laying of Railway line in 1983 PALI town developed in North direction due to it. Shri Ummaid Mill established in 1941 due to which PALI town experienced fast growth & it become important textile producing center. As per Rajasthan UI act 1959, a Master Plan of Pali was prepared by Chief Town Planner of Rajasthan to carry out the over all development of Town, This Master Plan was approved on 02.9.2004 by the State Government.
PALI is district headquarter and second largest city of Marwar Region located in South west at 250 47’ latitude and 730 20’ longitude at the right bank of Bandi river at 212 meter M.S.L. The town is situated at a distance of 75 Km. from Jodhpur and 300 Km. from Jaipur. It is very well connected by road and rail. N.H. 14 and S.H. 3 pass through here. The climate is hot and arid at an average temperature varying from 420 C to 100 in summers and winter respectively. The average rainfall is 412 mm and humidity ranges from 30% in summers and 80% in rainy seasons. The over all topography of PALI urban area is plane only some southern part is of hilly formation.
PALI has developed into an Industrial city and witnessed rapid growth of population particularly during 1971-81 decade of 83.75 % and 49.44% in and 37.87% in 1981-91 &1991-2001 respectively.
In Rajasthan the PALI urban area is not earthquake prone, as it comes under seismic zone two. Hence normal building construction material & techniques can be applied. Being PALI located on the Bank of Bandi River under ground water is available as well as water canal coming from Jawai Dam also passes through here.
PALI is an industrial town & about 45% workers are engaged in different type of industrial units about. As it is also district head quarter 16.69 % are in other services sector and about 20.25% working force is engaged in Trade & Commerce.
